What Kaia Writes
Kaia Waters writes character-driven fantasy rooted in emotional depth and moral uncertainty. Her stories explore flawed, complex characters navigating impossible choices, fragile trust, and the thin line between protection and control. Romance is slow, intentional, and built on mutual respect, woven alongside bonds of family, loyalty, and chosen connection.
No one is purely good. No one is purely lost. No one is purely evil.
About Kaia
Kaia means sea.
And yes, my husband likes to point out the redundancy of pairing it with Waters.
But the ocean has always been where I’ve found peace. Where I go for perspective. Where creativity and imagination feel endless.
The Remarkables was first written there, cocktail in one hand, phone in the other, while I lounged beneath an umbrella on a stretch of white sand. That was over ten years ago. I didn’t know it then, but I was writing the beginning of something I would one day come back to.
When I found the story again years later, I found my spark for writing with it, and I haven’t been able to put my keyboard away since.
Since then, I’ve dreamed up multiple worlds, crafted dozens of characters, and followed more storylines than I ever expected. I’m currently working on three different series, one of which lives under another pen name because it’s too dark for this one.
If you’d like to explore these worlds and the stories they hold, you can find them in the Books section of this page.

Current Project (s)
Right now, I’m working on book two of The Remarkables: Amberfield.
I’ve made a pretty sizable dent in it and, if all goes well, I’m hopeful you’ll see it in early 2027.
As the story continues to take shape, I’ll be sharing updates and select chapters on Ream Stories. There, you’ll be able to read along, leave comments, and help shape the journey in real time. Just a small warning in advance: I edit. A lot. Which means the structure, storyline, and final version may look very different from what you read there. I’m planning to begin posting chapters in Fall 2026.
